OUR BEGINNINGS WERE HUMBLE
Jong Kim enlisted in to the Korean army at age 18 with strong intentions of patriotism.
As a competitor in the martial arts world, crowned heavy weight Asian champion in Asia, he competed for several years.
This ultimately caught the the attention of General Choi Hong Hi (the founder of TKD) in 1955.
Jong Kim (under General Choi's Guidance) was involved with the World Demonstration Team along
side (C.K. Choi) because Taekwondo was a brand new form that was unknown to the world.
His efforts led to world promotion of the art in different countries.
Naturally, Jong Kim encouraged and developed his youngest son into Taekwondo. Through TKD's incredibly disciplined regiment, it brought out discipline, focus, and purpose in Edward's life. This resulted in high academic achievement levels, participation, and mentorship. At the the age of 16, Edward opened his first academy in Fort Langley, British Columbia. Over the years Edward has produced several Canadian and North-West American top champions in the competition world.
Jong Kim Martial Arts in Surrey, prides itself on it's core values which encompass Discipline, Truth, Honor, Strong Work Ethic, Pushing Boundaries, and Resilience.

Now the legacy has been passed unto his son, Edward, who in his father's tradition, continues to help students and people transform their lives; to reach unimaginable potential!
